Depending on your situation you give poverty a definition or another.
For us, being poor means to belong to a social community that doesn’t have access to our basic personal needs, which are food, clothing and shelter.
Instead, people who are actually living in a situation of poverty see things from a different point of view. They don’t give as much importance to material things as we actually do. Simple things that are so easy to solve for us, as being sick and able to see a doctor or having access to education, are not as much easy for them. People in poor countries live with uncertainty and they fear for tomorrow, they are fighting everyday to survive.
Actually, there are enough resources for everyone, but all this happens due to inequality and a bad distribution in our society.
To solve this situation we must contribute and work together. We shouldn’t divide ourselves that much and empower solidarity, empathy and love. It’s important to give all these people an access to an employment and an opportunity to acquire skills and qualifications. And the problem is not just separation between countries, which doesn’t let us see the reality, the problem is that, even if there are poor people around us, we just care about what concerns us. Step by step, solidarity associations are trying to change and solve the problem.
